Welcoming address

Ladies and gentlemen,

It is our pleasure to host the 4th AiSVO meeting in this wonderful city, Taipei.

I want to express my sincere appreciation to the friends of Taiwanese for their warmest hospitality shown to us. I deeply thank to the host chairperson, Professor Chung-Tien Lin, for his hard work to prepare and ensure the success of the 4th AiSVO meeting.  Also many thanks to foreign invited speakers, prof. Ron Ofri and Dr. Michael Chang, for giving us excellent lectures in our meeting.

The first AiSVO meeting was held on Oct 13, 2011 in Jeju, South Korea. After that, the 2nd meeting was held in Nagoya, Japan and 3rd meeting was held in Bogor, Indonesia. All of these were  exciting and successful meetings to improve veterinary ophthalmology in Asia.  All of the attendees were completely satisfied and enjoyed the whole day of the meeting and had a very friendly reception as well.

From 2011, we are trying to do our best to make ophthalmology as the one of the leading specialist groups for improving professional veterinary practice in Asia. Currently, there are only two specialist groups in Asia, dermatology and ophthalmology. Internal medicine and surgery groups are preparing to make their own specialist societies. Even though we are standing in the early stage, we can go forward to develop our society by the continued successful annual meetings and close relationships between members.

Now, we have 14 outstanding diplomate of AiCVO. I am sure that they will make our society being the one of the best ophthalmology groups in the world. I am convinced that there are many excellent De Facto diplomate candidates in each country. We are welcoming anybody who is interested in AiCVO. We need to invite more outstanding ophthalmologists to our society. The selection of De Facto will be closed in 2015 and the regular diploma examination will be started from 2016.

During this meeting, you can join 17 outstanding lectures, 4 different hand-on wet lab and numerous poster presentations. I hope you can enjoy and have an opportunity to get new knowledge and clinical skills in veterinary ophthalmology as well as to build up strong network between members .

Also wonderful dinner reception is waiting for all of you, please join us and enjoy a memorable Taiwanese night.

Lastly, I would like to express my deep appreciation to all of the staffs who make this excellent meeting possible.

Hopefully all is going well during the meeting and you could enjoy this wonderful AiSVO meeting in Taipei.

Cheers of AiSVO !
